BDM stands for Bund Deutscher Mädel, an official organisation for young girls aged 10 to 18, the feminine branch of the Hitlerjugend. Following the HJ law of 1st December 1936, membership was mandatory for all German girls. The movement was dissolved at the end of the war in 1945.
